My vocation and my avocation both involve helping people and groups move toward goals.
As a consultant and professional, I have more than 20 years of experience working on change, growth, and strategy. I have a Masters from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government 's Mid-Career program; have been executive director at two nonprofits; and have served on the boards of others. I've held senior leadership posts with several nonprofits; was the editor of a national magazine; and am a recovering journalist. I have expertise in leadership and management, communications, organizational evolution, growth and strategy, adult development and intergenerational work, civic life and politics, and democracy.
As an adventure racer, I help teams plan, strategize, manage, and navigate through snow, rain, heat, and gloom of night. As a team, we journey together by map and compass on foot, mountain bike, kayak, climbing rope, snowshoe, horse, scooter (race directors love to come up with wacky new skills for teams to master) to reach the finish line. It's kind of like being part of an organization in the current economic environment (but without the desks, computers, and coffeemaker)!
